Canon imageRUNNER and LBP series printers display E000-series error codes when the fuser unit has a problem. These errors stop all printing until resolved.
The fuser has exceeded its maximum safe temperature. This is a safety shutdown. Turn off the printer immediately and allow it to cool for at least 30 minutes before restarting. If the error recurs, the thermistor or fuser unit needs replacement.
The fuser is not reaching operating temperature within the required time. Causes include a faulty fuser heater, a failed thermistor, or insufficient power supply. Start by power cycling the printer. If the error persists, replace the fuser unit.
The fuser temperature dropped below the minimum required level during a print job. This usually indicates a failing fuser heater or a power supply issue. Replace the fuser unit as the first step.
The fuser temperature is rising too quickly, indicating a fault in the temperature control circuit. This requires fuser replacement and potentially main board inspection.
The fuser is reading an abnormal temperature when the printer is first powered on. This often indicates a failed thermistor. Replace the fuser unit.
First, turn off and unplug the printer for 30 minutes. If the error returns after restart, replace the fuser unit with a compatible replacement. Canon fuser units are available from authorized dealers and compatible suppliers at significant cost savings.
