HP Error Code 59.30 Motor Error: Complete Fix Guide

Keemstar Team 5 min read May 3, 2026

Error 59.30 on HP LaserJet printers means the main motor failed to start or did not reach operating speed within the required time. This prevents the printer from processing any print jobs.

What the Main Motor Does

The main motor drives the paper feed mechanism, the toner cartridge drum, and the fuser rollers. Without it, nothing moves inside the printer. Error 59.30 specifically indicates the motor failed on startup.

Step 1: Remove and Reseat Toner Cartridge

Open the printer, remove the toner cartridge, and check for any paper scraps or debris around the drum area. A foreign object can jam the motor on startup. Remove any debris and reinstall the cartridge firmly.

Step 2: Check for Paper Jams

Even a small piece of torn paper in the paper path can prevent the main motor from starting. Open all access panels and carefully remove any paper fragments. Check the fuser area especially.

Step 3: Power Cycle

Turn off completely, unplug for 60 seconds, and restart. Motor errors are sometimes caused by brief power fluctuations that confuse the printer controller.

Step 4: Check the Motor

If the above steps do not resolve the error, listen carefully when the printer powers on. You should hear the motor spin up briefly. If you hear nothing or hear grinding, the motor or its gear assembly needs replacement.

Step 5: Professional Service

Main motor replacement is a technical repair that requires disassembly of the printer. If the motor has physically failed, contact a certified HP service provider or a reputable printer repair technician.

Affected Models: HP LaserJet M601, M602, M603, M604, M605, M606, P4014, P4015, P4515, Enterprise 600 series.
